- A PAR START FOR DAVE looked to put him in the running
for another dominant game, but solid play from Mike gave
him five holes out of the next six in their matchplay and a commanding
four point lead over the field. After eight holes, it looked
like Mike all the way 18 points and , in spite of a win with
par on eight for Dave, a three hole lead.
- Suddenly the tables turned. As Mike's swing went out of control,
Dave started to come good. Six holes in a row gave Dave the lead
by two. Mike struggled to hang on and stopped the rot by tying
the next three. A terrible penultimate hole left Dave reeling,
as Mike clawed one back to take it to the wire. Finally Dave
putted out for a two hole victory in a thrilling match.
- There were thrills and spills galore oin the other match.
Tony scored double seven to open on the wrong foot and go down
two to Con. However, Con's driving skills were faltering and
after going three up with a par at the fourth, he started to
stagger.
- A couple of pars from Tony saw him get back to level at the
half-way mark. Con managed to stay one jump ahead and go into
the last with a one-hole lead. Tony overshot the last green,
but made a fine put for six, which was good enough to tie the
hole but short of tying the match.
