- TONY WINS THE EASTER BUNNY TROPHY, BUT LOSES MATCHPLAY
TO STEVE IN EPIC DUEL. The Fort Baxter Easter Festival of
Golf and everybody had something to aim for. Dave had just seen
his lead in the Stableford Champioships overhauled by Alan, Steve
had something to prove in his game against Tony in the Matchplay
League for which he had been absent for most of the season. Mike
had an outside chance, if he could continue his slow struggle
back to form. Geoff needed to play closer to his birdie form
and to wipe out his regular lapses into quadruple bogie land.

- There was some epic play and many remarkable holes. Mike
blew it early on, with a four put from eight foot on the second.
Alan's fourteen shots in the first two holes looked to have blown
his chances, but once again he achieved a remarkable recovery.
Two drops on holes nine and ten resulted in two pars which were
followed up by pars on eleven and twelve. From nowhere he was
up into third place. Hole nine also saw a great chip-in for birdie
by Steve who was battling with Tony for the match and for the
tournament.

- For the second week running, Tony was making the pace. Three
pars over four holes gave him a four shot lead over the field
by ten. Back to back pars by Steve on the two par threes, as
Tony struggled with a triple bogie saw Steve take the lead only
for it to be surrendered with a nine on the water hole. Showing
true grit, Steve then hit his second birdie of the day to nudge
ahead. A great par from Tony on seventeen put him back into the
lead for the Medal which he finally took with six on the last.
However, Steve pipped him in the matchplay with a final five.
