- Only one pairong in this Summer's Matchplay turned
up, so Mike and Tony agreed to postpone their match for the following
week. As it turned out, Tony was in breathtaking form from the
off. Scuffing his first shot and receiving a free drop by the
nets courtesy of a staked tree, he recovered magnificently and
did a firemen's slide down the flag pole only to miss a birdie
by inches. Mike had to fight hard to match him with his first
of three pars in a row, to take a slender lead into the fourth
where he drove into the bushes and scored zilch! Tony kept the
game level up to the last where he took control with a great
three pointer.
- Geoff was flat ater a run of good form and Dave was
wild in all senses of the word. Almost equalling his record drive
on the first, a drive into the left bunker on the third a ten
on the sixth and a record drive on the ninth which saw him a
good forty yards past the left bunker.

- Whilst the rain poured down on Wimbledon, the Dyke
boys took control on a hot Friday afternoon at Sunbury. A good
21 points from Alan was not sustained over the second half as
Geoff moved close but not close enough. Only two pars from Mike
this week, but a good birdie on the seventh to make up for last
time's triple bogie.
