With Mike and Con showing
erratic form this season, Dave, Alan and Steve jumped up to form
the leading group in Saturday's Summer Stableford, eager to continue
their big scoring activities. A steady start had only Tony dropping
a point on the first. Alan, Con and Dave all got pars on the
second, but Alan's birdie nudged him ahead of Mike and Con's
pars on three, whilst the others struggled.
A par on four eased Con alongside
Alan, whilst Tony's par gave him hope of a recovery.Alan dropped
a shot on the par three to give Con the lead and only Steve managed
par to save face before hitting his second ten of the round on
the mighty sixth.
A good five from Mike edged
him up with Alan, whist Con was pointless. With one shot in it,
there was a three-horse race, although a blob for Mike and one
point for Con gave Alan the lead with two to go.
Alan got his four on eight,
whilst Con went one better. Mike however, nearly went four better,
as his ball landed six inches from the hole. With Alan and Con
pointless on the last, Mike's three points won the day with Tony's
two pointer edging himalongside Con for third place. The mighty
first group? 147 between them. Group two? - 133.
