Memories of sunnier times

With the Baxter form looking
good for 2001, but few opportunities to dazzle through the wet
winter, the desperate few were out to get their names on the
leader boards of the Spring Trophies. Con, aware of Dave's challenge
to his golfing supremacy, flew in from New York and set out to
show who was master. Unfortunately the usual slow start thwarted
him, as Dave showed that 'steady-as-she-goes' was the name of
the game.
After a good week in the
frost, Mike showed mediocre early form which deteriorated into
a farcical eleven on the sixth. Geoff showed flashes of brilliance
at times, but his inconsistent streak let him down.
Highlights of the round included
Con's stunning 20 foot put on the eighth for his second birdie
of the year and Dave's rare par on the last.
Low points were many: Geoff
chipping for eagle on the third and ending up with double bogie,
Mike aiming for the green in three on six, only to go wayward
and having to take three drops for an eleven, Con putting for
birdie on five and missing twice.
Con still leads the handicaps,
although Dave is now just half a stroke behind. With just two
games completed for this season, Dave leads Con by three points.
The Low-score looks exciting
with Con's three pars and two birdies looking very powerful.
