For the second year running Mike threw in back-to-back
birdies to win the CentreParc trophy. With Con missing his nubbins
on the first nine, Mike and Dave saw their chance to make a charge.
Mike's opening par was blemished by a missed putt on the second
and a four putt on the third, but two birdies later and he had
opened up a three shot lead on Dave who then dropped another
two on the big sixth. Two more pars on the way home and Mike
had a three shot lead after day one.
On Sunday, Mike opened with another Par and it
looked all over, but he then went wild with a six, as Con started
to catch Dave. Things started to get interesting by the 13th
where the lead was cut to four and both Con and Dave had five
holes to claw their way back into contention. As it happened,
Mike hung on and won by three. He then frog-marched Con to the
booking office to ensure that bookings were made for next year's
event.

Saturday 11th November Perivale
YOUNG TOM WINS OCTOBER MEDAL
- Birdie at the fifth puts Tom
in the hunt
-
- Tom showed that he had what it takes to conquer the
winter conditions at Perivale, as he challenged Geoff for the
lead after four. His birdie on the fifth stamped his authority
on the game, as Geoff wilted with 17 shots in two holes. A blob
on the eigth was the only blemish on a strong card which not
only gave him the monthly medal but put him alongside Con in
the Winter Championships and only one shot back in the Low -Score
comp. The resulting handicap change means that he leapfrogs Tony
on a 12.
