ALAN IS THE MAN TO BEAT Queen Mum's Trophy & Monthly Medal as Al sets the pace "Go on Punks ,,, Make My Day!"

With the Baxter boys returning from the corners of the earth, bronzed and rested, a relaxed air was present on the Perivale fairways. However, Alan was in no mood to ease up, after his horsewhipping of Mike, Dave and Geoff over the eighteen holes of the Queen Mother Centenary trophy. Saturday's golf was generally relaxed, if not spectacular, very few disasters, but only five pars out of 63 attempts. Two of those were scored by Con, who started to show a welcome return to form. At the end of the day, it camed down to the last, with Dave, Mike and Con one shot behind. Mike's skirmish with his "Big Dog" lead him into the bushes, from which he emerged red faced with two shot sadded to his score. A romp in the left-green bunker put him out of it. Dave's superior handicap gave him one shot less than the others and a seven gave him no chance. Al's six meant that Con had to finish with a third par in a row. Side-by-side with Mike in the bunker made it unlikely. As it goes, his six left him in the runner-up spot.
