Summer Stableford

STEVE'S STAMPEDE
SIX-WAY TIE AFTER FIVE, THEN STEVE GOES ON THE RAMPAGE
Steve gets ready for High Noon at Perivale
With four weeks to go and Dave leading the Summer Stableford, it was time for the big guns to swing into action, and they don't get any bigger than Sidewinder Steve who stormed through the pack with his blazing six iron and blew away the opposition with a sensational 22 points over eight holes.
With three pars on the first hole, Steve looked a definite non-contender with his triple bogey. However, he joined in the action to be one of the three three-pointers on hole two. Alan's par-par beginning was matched by Tony who double parred with a four on three. These two hombres were up-front until they slipped on hle four, where Mike and Dave managed to muscle in on the action.
With Dave, Mike and Alan double-bogeying the fifth, things started to get interesting. Only Con was unable to manage level-handicap action, by this stage, but a fantastic last four beckoned with six players level on ten points.
As usual, the sixth sorted out the pack. Steve's three -pointer put him one clear of Alan. Dave and Mike nixed and lost three on one hole. Another three-pointer from Steve put him clear and it was down to a battle for second.
Mike put in another great finish with double par, Con started to find form with par on the last, Steve made it a clear victory and a third par on the fifth. One point separating the next five and a shake-up on the leader board. Dave holding strong with 89 points, but there's a new kid in Town! Steve three points back with an eleven to improve upon.
Three rounds of the Summer Stableford to go.

MESSAGE FROM GEOFF

To the Boys

I received a card in the post today showing six very shady characters that would have probably scared the **** out of me last week especially with all those briefcases!

In the picture everyone looks happy except Alan who reflects the strain I was feeling during last week. Can you now find one of Alan smiling in relief?

When I get my Baxter lounge suit issued to me will it match Con or Steve? A sandy beige would good to allow me to travel incognito in Egypt and just maybe the odd bunker.

Under the threat of a knife, I finally cut the 'bull' and went straight for the **** but did not manage to escape until 10.00 am Saturday morning - too late to show the Boys what I am really made of.

See you next Saturday

Cheers

Geoff
