GEOFF 'S HOSPITAL BED CHARGE GEOFF MANAGED TO IMPROVE HIS STATISTICAL RANKINGS WHILST SITTING IN HIS POST-OPERATIVE BED, AS STEVE STUFFED THE OPPOSITION AT PERIVALE Geoff enjoys his stay at the Oxford Centre For Reconstructive Surgery

A record number of sick notes produced a somewhat subdued atmosphere at Perivale on Saturday. With Geoff in hospital undergoing cosmetic surgery, Tony sporting a neck-brace and young Tom nursing a sore head as he woke up in some lonely shore that is Greece, there were just the five starters. After two holes, it was virtually over, as Steve hit seven points courtesy of a couple of opening pars. Steady play put him two clear of Alan after four, although Mike was ecovering from his usaul poor start and had nudged himself into second by the end of six. However, Steve was now four clear of the field. Big birdie from Alan, followed by a par looked like turning the game around, as Steve looked to be collapsing. One hole, two leaders it mano-a-mano with Steve needing to show his true competetive spirit if he was to earn his wel-deserved victory. As it happened, the curse of the last hit Alan once again and a pathetic 10 handed it to fast-improving Steve. Dave's strong finish gave him second place. Con struggled once again to further ruin his season's statistics. Geoff was the main beneficiary of the day, as he moved up to the top of the "bogie or better " stats and became leader of three "king of the hole" comps. As predicted, Dave moved to the top of the Stableford board, but Steve is looking good to make positoive inroads by bettering his 10 & 11 scores. Consolation for Alan as he secured his second ntp - longest hole double of the season and moved up to tie the lead in the low-score.
