The Man At C&A Trophy
"SUITS YOU SIR" AS DAVE EARNS MAN AT C&A TITLE
Eight shots clear of the field at the half-way, but five off the tee at the 12th offers
false hope. Big fight-back by Tony on the second half gives him share of
second place. Mike's new putting style wilts under pressure of competition.
After a hard morning on the golf course David relaxes at home by
selecting some soothing mood music to accompany his afternoon
nap. Refreshed, he tunes up for two hours of Formula One action.
Par -Par- Bogie, three holes and Dave was away four shots clear after three holes. Mike's new putting stroke was put to the test on hole one as he lined up for a 12 foot birdie put. Four strokes later, he staggered away nursing his double bogie, optimisim shattered.
Steve's practise swings on the first drew gasps of admiration from those assembled, but once a ball was introduced into the equation, things started to go horribly wrong, by hole six he was two shy of the pack and eleven off the lead. Third of the way through and Mike was in second by four strokes, Alan two further back.
Only Alan managed a par three on the seventh. Mike suffered another setback with a horrible even. Another Par by Dave put him eight vlear after eight.
The tricky ninth blew Tony and Steve away, but Dave was now eight clear with a net 30.
The big hole was number 12. Five off the tee and struggling, Dave now slumped to an eleven, as Tony quietly started his charge down the back nine.
Six holes to go and there was hope in the air, Dave's lead was cut back to nothing, as Alan moved alongside. Mike was three back followed by Geoff, Tony and Steve all one shot apart.
With Disaster looming and the precious "Man At C&A" trophy slipping from his grasp, Dave rose to the occasion and popped back into the lead with a "Nearest the Pin" victory.
Three sixes kept him in front and then a par three seemed to seal the title with one to go. Steve had suffered a disasterous eleven, but bounced back with a massive "Longest Drive"
Geoff was re-gaining some respectablity with a parand Tony was crawling up the leader board with a mixture of pars and bogies.
Even a poor eight on the last couldn't damage Man-at-C&A's lead. Fort Baxter's first Summer Outing and Victory for Dave, three ahead of Mike and Tony. True style!
