ALAN WINS THE BATTLE OF THE BRUVS by 2
TONY & DAVE POST 19S TO SET THE PACE FOR SUMMER
In a thrilling third-place pay-off for the Spring Matchplay, there was never more that 2 in it. Geoff held the upper hand through the first nine, going into a two hole lead after the second, but Alan fought back to sneak in front by the sixth. However, two lost holes gong into the half-way mark, left him a stroke to make up on the back nine.
Two wins at the start put him one up, but Geoff leveled, fell back and leveled again A disaster on the sixth put him one back with three to go, but a great par tied the match once again. From elation to despair, as Alan parred to take the upper hand. This proved to be a crushing blow, as Geoff staggered to a 12 on the last to hand Al the bronze.
A return to form for Dave gave him 19 points on the second Saturday of the season and, like Tony the previous week, had his handicap cut. Geoff went back to join them, all three now playing off 12.
Dave capped a good round by winning Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive
