The absolutely final day of the Winter season climaxed with the Spring Matchplay. Man-in-form Tony was never behind, as he took it 4 and three. Early on, Steve looked as though he was going to make a strong challenge, as he reversed a first hole deficit on the second and kept level until the fourth. However, once Tony got his nose in front thre was no looking back. With a cab waiting to rush him to the airport for a well earned break in the Big Apple, Tony was looking forward to the greatest weekend in his sporting life, as Manchester City finally made it to the Premiership the following day.
In spite of his dominance in the matchplay, his scorin was not of sufficient standard to improve his 95 points in the Winter League. Although the points were level, Geoff takes the Championship on countback.
In the monthly medal, Tom's 34 gave him yet another victory, two points ahead of Tony and Mike.
After a slow start, Alan came back in 43 to improve his position in the league, but it was his birdie on the third which put the lid on the low score contest. His 33 put him two shots clear of Dave in second place.
