another Monthly Medal as he joins Tony in the finals |

With some solid spells under his belt,
after France, Steve whacked the ball with confidence, nixing
his one shot deficit and then going into the lead on the second.
Alan managed to hang on and then pull level
with a par on the fifth, but in the Monthly Medal, Steve was
one ahead of Geoff and Mike. Big disaster for Alan on the tricky
sixth put him one down, even though Steve had surrendered the
lead in the MM to Mike. Things were pretty tight all round on
the seventh, as Al pulled alongside Steve with two to go in the
Matchplay and Geoff and Mike levelled him in the Medal.
Pars from Steve and Mike left them ahead
in the Medal and Alan needing a good last hole to tie the match.
As it happened, the challengers stumbled leaving Steve a double
winner. Mike, Dave and Geoff tied for the runner-up spot.
