With Top-Dog Con and Man-in form Geoff
absent, and a late transfer to the London Golf Centre, the competetive
edge of the Baxter crew was blunted. Only Mike managed to show
any form, as he scored an unofficial 16 points, well ahead of
the field.
Word that Dave was hyped up to destroy
the "Old Man" jibes, proved to be unfounded, as he
was heard to mutter, after four holes: "They've got nowhere
for you to have a sit-down by the tees."
Tony , fresh from competing in the San
Antone Sunshine Invitational, found the contrasting conditions
overbearing. Playing partners accused him of being "Grumpy".
Passers-by, who witnessed the frequent club-abuse and golfing
expletives, may have used a stronger term. But a rare smile returned
as he parred the last settinghim up for next week's first round
of the Matchplay semis.
