Tom set the pace with a blistering birdie,
firing from the rough to within a couple of feet of the hole.
He started to lose it on the second though and felt the pressure
as all six of his opponents parred the third. By now, Geoff had
taken the lead, which he extended on the fourth. A tricky three
footer went astray and robbed him of a great hat-trick of pars.
Things looked dodgey on the fifth as his
trusty five-wood left him an almost impossible lie in the bunker.
A crowd of wayward golfers on the fourth stood by to see how
he would get out. A stunning shot left him with a chance of a
par and was greeted by applause all round. The put didn't go
in, but he was a good two shots clear of Con who'd notched up
a couple of pars and looking good for a late charge.
Once again, the sixth took it's toll. Geoff
managed a respectable two points as Con scored a miserable eight.
Biggest dissapointment was Mike who unleashed a great drive to
the middle of the fairway only to move the ball four feet with
his next three shots. Perplexed by a slight sideways downhiller,
he airshotted twice! Geoff was now four clear of brother Alan.
A weak seventh meant that Alan had a chance
and after a par three eigth it was "game on"! One shot
in it.
Oh such cruelty! A steady two points for
Geoff gave him a clear win, as Bruv struggled to a miserable
10. Mike quietly moved into second one point ahead of a three-way
tie for third.
