ALAN BACK ON FORM
Mike gets two elusive pars
"THE PRESENTS WILL BE A LITTLE LATE THIS YEAR, KIDS!"

Once again, the Ruislip mini-climate came to the rescue of Fort Baxter diehards, as the fog lifted to proovide solid Winter conditions for the Christmas Championship. Mike was the first to receive some Christmas cheer, as he holed a superb 20 foot putt to par the difficult second, edgining him further in the lead for the Low Score. A blob on four left him trailing Al, who was hitting his form to take the turn with a solid eighteen points. Another blob for Mike kept him behind, but strong putting gave him back-to-back pars, including the 14th which brought his Low Score down to 67, three clear of the field.

Dave had fought hard to pull alongside Al, in their match, but lost his touch on thirteen and fourteen. With three to go and sitting two behind, he saw his chance, as Alan hit a wild tee shot on to the seventeenth fairway. Dave needed a tricky ten foot putt for par and an almost certain win. Mike needed a four footer to par and get on track for an improved Stableford total. Unbelievably, Alan hit his ball over the trees and to within 20 feet of the hole and then proceeded to sink his putt. With remarkable character, Dave sunk his for a dormi two chance of drawing the match. Mike missed his tiddler, going on to drop shots on the nect two holes, his good putting form deserting him at the end. Dave went O.B. to lose the match on the next hole, leaving Alan as the Bad Santa, gleefully seeing his freturn to form as an omen for 2007.

With a week to go, Mike looks to be sitting pretty in the Low Score, Alan needs to sink seven to beat him, although Dave is just one behind Al for the third place spot. Dave is still in with a statistical chance of winning the Matchplay, but needs a 49 pointer to go ahead of Mike in the Stableford. He slipped a little on the averages, but can still retain second place if he scores better than 28 next week. Gavin could still provide an upset, should he hit 37 or better, the trophy is there waiting for him. Alan, also managed to leapfrog Gavin in the averages and improve his blobless run to 23. Another blobless round and he will start the new year with a 41 total.
