Lightning strikes, as Geoff goes on the rampage.
LIKE PIGS TO THE SLAUGHTER
The dark skies sigaled not only a dramatic change in Saturday weather, but a change in the Fort Baxter status quo. Mike was leading in all competitions and standing on the first tee with 35 blobless holes under his belt. Two lost balls and nine strokes later, his dreams were in ruins as he stumbled to his highest score of the year and two losses in the matchplay. Con fare marginally better, as he extended his blobless run to 42, one shot short of the lead. He managed to beat Mike easily, but lost two matches to the bruvs and barley extended his Low Score position. Tony showed that he was back on form and was cruising to a double victory and a 36 pointer, which would have tied him for the lead. Unfortunately, he missjudged the damp green on the last with his first putt ..... and then again with his second ..... and third. A final blob turned two victories into a couple of draws.
Geoff continued to tame the difficult holes and looks like threatening the Low Score trophy. Missing birdie on the second hardest hole by less than an inch, he was unlucky to do the same on stroke index four. In spite of a hail storm and sheet lightning on the seventeenth, he managed to finish with a superb 36 points and three victories. Brother Alan also showed some fine form, as he cruised to a 21 point nine hole total. Unfortunately, he stumbled on the second half scoring just eight points.
