It has been two years since the last Centre Parcs when Dave smashed the record by six strokes. Was it a one-off freak performance or could the feat be equalled or even bettered. Tony was the man with the answer, as he posted a spectacular first round score of one-over! Beating the one-round record he hit a fabulous eight par total of 28. However, Dave and Con were still nicely poised with 32s, only one over the previous record. Any sign of weakness and Tony could be a goner by Sunday evening.
The next day saw Tony's demons coming to haunt him. After two holes he had been overhauled by Dave, who was showing some good Centre Parc form. After nine holes, Tony had dropped 14 shots behind Saturday's score, whilst Dave improved one shot to easily win from Con with a superb 63, one shot off the record.
Gavin and Geoff stormed around the Ruislip Course in 2hr 45mins to stay ahead of the bad weather until the 18th. They are claiming this as a new record for the fastest round. In the Matchplay there was never more than two in it as Gavin took an early lead. Geoff levelled by the 6th and led by 1 after nine. Gavin won the 12th outright and stayed 1 ahead until the 16th to then lead by dormy two. Geoff's last chance to draw level on the rainy 18th disappeared with a poor tee shot. As the only contenders to turn up for the Donald Duck Splashdown, Gavin and Geoff finished level on net strokes. For once Geoff took a win on countback.
