- Al'a run of form continued apace, as
he fired off an opening birdie followed by near miss for par
on two. However, Mike battled away
overcoming his driving problems to gradually grind down the opposition
with some solid putting. Aftyer the first few holes there were
two matches going on: Al v Mike with the rest battling for third
place.
- Dave had given everyone a chance by scoring
23 on the first three holes, but character showed as he pulled
himself together and started to claw his way back.
- Steve looked to be doing well, but Tony
overtook him towards the end of the first nine.
- At the turn, Al was clear leader three
ahead of Mike, but Tony had pulled to within one of second place,
three ahead of Steve.
- It was a game of two halves though. Alan
suffered an uncharacteristic failure of form on the back nine,
as Mike opened with par followed by bogie whih was good enough
to eclipse Alan's eight. Tony went into the doldrums, as Steve
birdied eleven to take third place.
- On the nest, pars by Steve and Alan made
things interesting. Al and Mike were now tie with Steve four
behind. Tony two shots further back with Dave nibbling at his
heels one shot off.
- The fourteenth proved to be a key hole.
Mike suffered a seven, and Steve an eight. Al's par on fifteen
gave him the lead, but Dave was now steadily coming into the
frame. A par on seventeen now gave Dave the third place, whilst
Al was looking good for another victory.
- In the end, Mike produced his only good
drive of the day to open a final par which took the match as
Alan slumped to an eight.
- In a good day for putting, Mike scored
30 to beat Alan and Steve on 32.
