CON AND MIKE HAVE ALWAYS HAD STARS IN THEIR EYES
Yet another superb round for Con, takes him to the top of every competition currently running. In spite of having been cut by two strokes, he continues to pile on the points and crush all opposition. Being in the form of his life, he was still critical of Saturday's form, as he managed to four-putt on two consecutive greens. However, this did not prevent him from beating Gavin 5 & 4 and taking the Stableford by a clear seven points.
Mike turned up suffering from the early stages of bronchitis and minus his glasses. He gamely took on Alan, but soon realised that he had more than his nineteen handicap dragging him down. At the turn, he was three holes down and had notched up 57 strokes. A scoring mix-up on the tenth gave him a much needed hole and a glimpse of hope. Alan graciously conceeded the hole, after being convinced of having scored a magnificent par. Bowing to Mike's superior memory skills, he let the point go, not taking on board that Mike's brain was, by now, completely shot to pieces. However, this made for a thrilling second half, as Mike improved to a 43 and managed to hit two of his target holes. The key hole was the fifteenth, where Alan was just off the green for four, whilst Mike was off for six, courtesy of two visits to the second ditch. Halving that hole in eight, the boys fought to a brilliant tie, matching each other, hole by hole.
