Pitney decided to stick with Tulsa and the rest was history
Three one-pointers was as bad as it got for Geoff, as he cruised to an eight point victory in the Gene Pitney Memorial. A blobless round and seven net birdies took him straight to the top of the leader board for the Spring Stableford. The year's big star, Dave finally hit a brick wqall, as he struggled with bunkers, carding just one point over the first four holes, This gave Mike a chgance to tuck another match under his belt, as he recovered from a string of poor drives with some excellent chipping and putting to win on the penultimate hole.
Gavin had a slow start, which managed to give Tom a chance in his first match of the season. However, Tom faded, as Gavin finished strongly, just missing a putt for three on the last as the clicking of the paparazzi ruined his stroke.
The most interesting match was between Con and Tony. Neither player was on form, during the first half, but Tony's eight point nine holes left him really struggling. Six down, after ten holes, it was all over bar the shouting, although this didn't stop Con from declaring that nobody could ever come back from that deficit. squaring the eleventh seemed to steady Tony, who then won the next, but all-square on the next meantg that it was dormi five. Con was now struggling and Tony was attacking hard. A par for Con on the fifteenth should have finished it, but he disqualified himself for failing to replace his ball properly. This meant that Tony could square the match if he won the next three holes. Seven points later for Tony and jut the one point for Con and it was the most unlikely comeback in Baxter history. An absolute stunner!
