SHE SOON FELT THE FULL FORCE OF HIS PASSION
Dave had only got as far as Ruislip High Street, when he
knew that he'd have to taste the fruits of his medal victory.
It was monthly medal time combined with three matches. An enthralling day's golf, with three great comebacks. Tony got off to a good start, going two up on Geoff, who then pegged him back and charged towards a 5 & 4 victory. A rare par onthe hardest hole followed by another on five put him on course for a good low-score showing and also put him ahead of the pack in the medal. An untidy finish to the first half, put him down the field, which was dominated by Gavin, who was five shots ahead and leading Con by three holes. Dave and Mike were second, as their tense game stood all-square.
Sadly for Gavin, his form deserted him and he started to struggle, giving Con hope of a comeback. Mike seemed to be the one making a charge, as he parred the tenth and hit the lead by the eleventh. However, he ran out of steam at this point and Dave put on the pressure, winning his their match 3 & 2. Meanwhile, Geoff parred the 13th to find himself two up on the field. In spite of an eight on fifteen, he was still leading with a stroke over Dave and two over Mike and Gavin. Although he just missed a birdie on the next, Dave completed a good day's golf two ahead of the field. All that was left was the battle for second place and the match between Gavin and Con, which was now all square.
Geoff bogied the last, but Mike tied him with a missed birdie chance. Con also parred to put heaps of pressure on Gavin. Putting like he'd been doing all day, Gavin holed out to tie his match and gain a share of second place.
