Gavin reflects upon his return to form
A superb start for Russell, who quickly went three up in his match against Mike and lead the day with 21 points at the turn. The nearest challenger was Tony, who was keeping ahead against Gavin, who seemed to be playing close to his best. Dave was struggling against Tom, who was also close to his best at the turn. The drama unwound during the second half, as matchplay tension started to affect form. Russell started to struggle, as Mike doggedly kept up the pressure drawing the match on thelast hole. Dave soon succumbed to Geoff's more consistent play and Alan couldn't find his record-breaking form. It was Gavin, who built up the most points, as he pushed Tony to a last hole finish. With a good rrcord of last-hole pars, Tony wound it up with a superb three and another victory. However, gavin can be pleased with 34 pointer, whilst Mike must be getting fed up with yet another runner-up finish.
