Geoff liked the little extras that they laid on at Fawlty Towers
Geoff (recovering from a brief, but dramatic loss of form) and Con ( returning to Ruislip after his staggering record performance ) were setting the course alight with some exhibition golf over the first nine. Four pars over the first five holes put Con out ahead, but in spite of three bogies and a par to follow, it was Geoff who lead at the turn. Parring half of the first ten holes, Geoff was way ahead, as Con slumped and struggled to score on the way back. An out-of- form
Gavin soon succumbed to Geoff in his match, but Dave started to see some light as he started to recover from six down against Con. Sadly, Dave's lack of form could not hold out, as he lost with three to go. Tony and Russell had a great game, which Russ stepped up to finish with a hole to go. His 18 inch putt horseshoed out of the hole leading to a drawn game. Mike and Tom showed some steady form in another thrilling match. Five pars from Mike was matched with two pars and a couple of birdies from Tom who did enough over the last few holes to sew it up on the last. With 25 pars and two birdies between them, the Baxters are showing some class at Ruislip, but 30 blobs show that there is plenty of room for improvement. Geoff's blobless round made him the easy winner of a weekend in Torquay, complete with a celebration gourmet dinner at the renowned Fawlty Towers hotel.
