Resist all offers of a game of golf, as he is armed and dangerous
Where does one begin? Without doubt the most sensational game of golf the Baxters have witnessed. Alan continues his assault on the Stableford, setting a Fort Baxter record of 79, hitting seven pars and two birdies, notching up 41 points, leads the championship with a week to go and yet he is still not the man of thematch!
After ten holes, Alan had turned one short of last week's record of 39, but he follows this up with a birdie for a total of 26 points. That's six under handicap for ten holes, the last four covered in two under par. Unbelievably, this puts him two points adrift of Con who is eight under handicap covering ten holes in two over par. That is seven pars and a birdie. Alan's tougher handicap means that another par leaves him still two points adrift. However, he has now covered five holes in two under par, that is three over for eleven holes. Both players flop on the next and can only bogie the easiest hole. Another par for Con follows, whilst Alan holes another two. It looks like the record is going to be smashed out of sight, even with both players bogeying the next. Alan looks good with a par on seventeen, He has now scored 74 and looks to have it in the bag, but incredibly, Con birdies to make it 73. His final bogie is one better than Alan's, so he ends up smashing the record by five strokes, bagging 46 points in the process. Remarkably, he has not dented Alan's lead in the Low Score Trophy, as he has not managed to par the two easy par threes all season. Almost overlooked in this brilliant contest is Tony's 38 pointer and double birdies from Dave and a birdie from Russ. Tom and Gavin make no improvement on their Stablefords, leaving Alan two ahead.
Our reporter on the course, Geoff Dyke remembers int thus:
KING CON CONQUERS -  Fort Baxter's most travelled golfer finally succeeds on our home course and takes the Course Record with a stunning round of 77 including 8 pars and two birdies.   
You will see that Con did not have his usual poor start and did have have some good fortune in the round. On the second hole his second shot went way right but over the trees onto the third fairway with sight of the flag. His third shot was not that good but his fourth left him a longish putt for par. That seemed to set the tone for the rest of his round with great approach shots and good putting.
