TOM GETS THE FORT BAXTER PARADE
Tom had the choice: keep the trophy or take the woman
With Gavin firmly positioned on top of the rankings, it was time for Tom to make a move. Six pars and eight bogies, saw him pocket a juicy 39 pointer and move to within one point of the lead. The seventh remained elusive and in a desperate attempt to challenge for low score, he hit his only blob of the round. Dropping a couple of shots towards the end, he was well on his way to a 40 plus score. In the meantime, Alan saw off Dave and put himself in an almost unassailable lead in the matchplay. He needs to beat Tom next week, but that won't be a foregone conclusion. Tony showed some cracking form, as he beat Mike on the last hole of a thrilling contest. Time and time again, he escaped from trouble with startling chipping and putting. All square into the last, Mike's ball bounced out of bounds, whilst Tony's hit water. Mike's second ball needed to hit the flag, but it just missed and went up the back slope, ending his chance of staying in the hunt for championship glory. If Alan slips up next week, Con can stay in the hunt with a win against Tony. Two cracking matches!
