After a shaky first, Con put the pressure on Mike and appeared to have him on the ropes, until a disastrous seven on the par three eleventh and poor finishing on the long twelfth. Mike was now only a shot behind, but with ruthless efficiency, Con dispatched him with a three-par blitz from the fifteenth to win three and one. Geoff had a brilliant start, scoring seven points on the first two. After six holes, he was three up and had scored fifteen points. Alas, with only one more point to end the half, it was all square at the turn. In spite of a great birdie on thirteen, Geoff couldn't hold Alan, who covered the last five holes in two over par.
There were more birdies in the remaining match. Russell four-pointed on the ninth, whilst Dave started a comeback with one on the sixthe, after going three down. This proved to be the tightest match, with Dave leading for the first time going into the last. Gavin's four was good enough to win the hole and force a tie. Man of the match was Con, who was three points ahead of the field and looking to be a real contender in all of the tournaments.
