TONY THOUGHT "THE CRUCIBLE " WAS A NIGHT CLUB
Remembering Arthur Miller's crazy rhythms in true Baxter style
It was a three-way battle for the pretigious Arthur Miller Trophy on Saturday, as first Tony, then Mike lead the way until Con made his customary move on the way home. With three to go, there was a point in it.A great four point par leap-frogged Tony into the lead. Everyone battled hard against the wind on seventeen, but single points from Tony and Mike moved them ahead of Con's blob. A dramatic last saw Con scuff his drive into the ditch, whilst Dave landed a few foot from the pin for par and a tie. Tony had already defeated Geoff in his match and it was the Arthur Miller trophy that he aimed for, as he parred the last. Mike tried hard with his best drive of the day, but a puddle landing ensured a bogie and second place. Victory for Tony was soured, as he mistook Miller for Arthur Murray the fabled dance instructor who had taught him hist best moves in the early sixties.
