Mike keeps up the pressure in classic encounter with Con, as Al gets close to record yet again

Mike was not impressed by Con's rendition of 'Scotland The Brave'.
A low turn-out for Fort Baxter, but that did not diminish the quality of play, as there were two mouthwatering matches lined up. Mike's recent return to form was to be tested by the return of Golfmeister Con, whilst the bruvs were set for a big showdown. An unlucky break on the second, put Con one down in his match, but a superb put for par put the squeeze on Mike, who responded magnificently witha birdie to go two up early on. It took another three pars from Con to narrow the gap to one at the turn. Three pars in a row from Alan gave him a front nine of 44 and three up in Geoff. However Mike was the man on form, with 41 strokes and 22 points.
After the turn, Mike went wobbly, dropping shots on the 10th and three putting from a makable birdie position on 11. Con had now levelled it. However, Mike edged ahead with his first ever competetive par on 12 and putted to halve the next hole, which looked like a gift for Con. Both players had now hit a rocky patch. Mike took the par three with a five, but then blobbed the next. In the meantime, Alan was having a great second half, coming home in 41 and a 5 & 4 victory.
Con blew up on the sixteenth, but parred the next to give himself a chance of a draw. However, another steady last putt from Mike gave him a one hole victory. Russell had a steady game, scoring good points early on, but a seven on the last, robbed him of the chance to produce a personal best.
