Tom, Al & Mike in classic three-way encounter for Man Of Steel Tournament
Al wonders how long he'll have to hold the pose before he can breath out

"Holy Moses!" It really was a tournament befitting the Man Of Steel, as Fort Baxter produced the goods for the Christopher Reeve trophy. With three holes to go, Al, Mike and Tom were one stroke apart and within striking distance of equalling the club record. Tom was in the driving seat after hitting six pars over the first eleven. Mike needed a par and two bogies after his five pars on the same stretch. Alan also needed to finish two over for the last three with six pars under his belt. Al had just dropped a shot on the previous hole, but hit a great par on sixteen. Mike held bogie, but Tom dropped a shot. It was now Alan a stroke ahead and both he and Mike bogied, as Tom went down with a triple. Mike needed par to equal the record and Alan just needed a bogie. Nearly going in the water, Mike had a tricky shot to the green. He blew it big-time as his second took a splash and his dream was sunk. Tom bogied to match Mike's 87, but Alan was also having trouble. Two poor shots left him off the green and needing an up-and-down to get his record-equalling 84. In true Superman style, Al chipped in to break his own record with a superb 83.

In recognition of this great feat, it was decided to drop the countback rule for the trophy which was tied with Al and Tom on 39 points. Al flew off clutching the Fortbaxter Superman Trophy in his hand and a new record under his belt.

Con beat Tony and looks odds-on to take the matchplay, whilst Alan and Dave each have three holes for the Low-score.
