A fantastic game of two halves, as Mike streaks away with the first nine and Dave charges back with a record 24 point second half. With a blob being the usual start for Mike, his two pointer inspired him to some solid golf. Five bogies gave him a nice thirteen points on the first six holes and then three pars saw him six points ahead of Tony and seven ahead of Dave at the turn.

Dave had scored three pars on the way out, but an eight and five sixes for the first ten holes meant that he was still seven down with eight to play. Pars for both players made it seven down with seven and then came the charge. Three bogies, four pars and a birdie saw Mike under pressure and with his blob on the sixteenth, it looked like the "Brother Ray" was slipping from his grasp. However, both players managed par-bogie to finish, Mike's 40 pointer winning by one.

Tony had another good day, beating Tom in matchplay and moving into contention for the Stableford. Geoff had to settle for a trouncing, as he had no answer to Dave's second-half pyrotechnics.
