TOM DESTROYS THE FIELD
The old guys left floundering in his wake, as Tom storms to medal win
Ernie and Dino are not quite sure that a two point cut is enough!

With Dave, Geoff and Con enjoying a par apiece over the first couple of holes, it looked like the Old Guard was going to take a grip of the May medal. However, it was Young Tom who showed the way by keeping out of the challenging rough and putting his way to a steady victory. Con played some superb shots, but not enough of them. His misjudged approach to the ninth and his errant driving on the tenth put him out of contention, in spite of four pars and a birdie.

As Tom not only avoided blobs, but managed only two one-pointers, it was only Tony who looked like a contender. Unfortunately for the Old Geezer Brigade, Tony's eight on eight dropped him from an equal share of the lead. He hung on until the fourteenth, where tom's great put for four points knocked the stuffing out of him. With a ten on the next, he was out of it, but a couple of three pointers netted him a clear runner-up spot. Con declared that he would hole an enourmous putt on the par-five and, sure enough, he did! Unfortunately a drive into the pond on the last left him with scant reward for his efforts.

In the end, Tom scored a massive 42 points and earned himself a big cut. The old guard needs to summon something out of the bag, if they are going to see him off this season. Perhaps it wil need to be a shotgun!
