- The boys are stunned as Geoff plays a last-deal winner.
With three points on the first, Tom carried on from where he left off last week. Mike socred his first bogie of the year on the first and thought he had a chance, but a run off indifferent holes scuppered his chances. It looked like Tom all the way, but Geoff was not giving up. Only a blob on eight kept him off the lead. With one point in it at the half-way mark, things were looking tight. However, it was Dave who made the charge, starting back with two pars and getting to within one of the lead. Geoff was floundering until a superb chip-in on thirteen gave him a birdie and four points. Dave fought back with a par on fifteen, but floundered over the last three.
Mike had been playing steady, if unspectacular golf. A run of eight bogies was ended with a double on thirteen, but then he hit two pars including a fantastic pitch-in on the seventeenth. He missed his put for par on the last ending with a nice 35 pointer. However, it was a terrific chip and then a cool put that gave Geoff three points on the last to tie with Tom.
WIth one game to be played, Dave's lead is no longer unassailable. Tom needs another 39 pointer to take the trophy. Gavin goes from second to fourth, as Mike continues his late-season run. Geoff can still get on the leader board with a good score. The Low-Score trophy looks loke Dave's but Con has plenty of scope for improvement. Alan and Tony will be fighting a tight duel for the Wooden Spoon, whilst Mike and Gavin are all that stands between him and the Matchplay ....phew!
