THE TINTIN 75TH ANIVERSARY TROPHY
TERRIFIC TOM TAKES TINTIN TROPHY
Tom leads the field by seven in January medal
Gavin & Tom put the wind up the Dykes

With the Baxters struggling on the first, there was no sign of the fireworks to come. Tom and Mike edged ahead on the second, but from there on it was Tom all the way. Without a blob on his card, he hit eight three-pointers to win the Monthly medal by a clear seven strokes. Tom's dad, Gavin looked to be out of the hunt with a nine on one, but he played a steady game and edged into second place in the Tintin. Unfortunatel the first hole did for him, as Dave had a good middle game and got second in the medal. Con, suffering with a chill, managed to alternate between poor play and flashes of brilliance. His second on the fourth was one of the best shots seen in Baxterplay. Just scraping the hole to miss birdie on the hardest hole. The birdie came on the ninth, with another startling second shot which was routinely knocked in. Playing a double matchplay with Tony and Gavin, his birdie and four pars managed tight wins in both cases.

More birdies came from Geoff and Alan. Once again, Geoff, who also scored 3 pars, let the blobs take over to leave him equal fourth in the medal with his bruv. Mike had another major collapse on the second half and still struggles to even sniff a par or anything approaching a steady round. Tony displayed some fine putting, and was handicapped by a swing that was getting more than a little out of control at times. Most notably, on the eleventh, where his tee shot landed in a tree, ten foot from the tee!

With 39 points in the bag, Tom was cut a stroke and looks like the man to beat in 2004. Alan's proposal to confine him to the junior section was overruled and he was awarded the Captain Haddock Grumpy Old Man certificate for his efforts.
