A superb start to the new season as Fort Baxter celebrated the life of Bob Monkhouse with a fitting display of sparkling form. With only two points scored on the first hole, things were looking ominous, but Gavin's fine par five on two kick-started the competition and the pars started to come thick and fast. Geoff was the next to pick up a four-pointer with a superb par on four and with a good run of bogies he settled into a comfortable lead.
Dave was the next to pick up four on a hole with a great par on seven. By the turn, he was only a shot behind Gavin and Geoff, who had hit a nasty blob on eight. On the way back, Geoff started to falter and slipped from contention as the blobs started to appear all over his card. However, another four pointer appeared as he birdied the penultimate hole which enabled hime to finish runner up to Gavin, whose steady play earned him a well deserved 37 spoint start to the season.
Geoff won another match, as he beat Tony 3 & 1. He scored 32 points on 13 holes. Is this some kind of a record?
