At the prize giving dance,Dave gets Tony up for an improptu performance of the Fort Baxter Bugle Rag!

DAVE WINS MEDAL BUT TONY TAKES CHAMPIONSHIP

A perfect setup for the climax to the Summer season. Dave an Geoff, behind in the championship race, but each needing to beat their handicap by a mere two points, in order to pip Tony at the last hurdle. A par for Dave on one meant that he only needed to find one stroke to handicap. Unfortunately, he dropped one on two, but Geoff was now the one with a point to find. He then dropped a shot at three, but Dave's second par meant that he was back to within a point. The fourth took its toll, as both players dropped, but another par for Dave at eight where Geoff dropped another gave him some hope, whilst Geoff was looking a bit desperate.

The second half and both players still had a chance. A fourth par on eleven and Dave was really in the hunt. A couple of sixes put him into the desperation zone, but a great par on fourteen meant two pars with four to go. The championship was still a possibility. Geoff's two three pointers meant that he was also just two pars away. The par five fifteenth had to be good.. Geoff bogied, but Dave had a horrible shot over the bunker. A mad chip went horribly wrong and the resulotant blob kissed goodbye to his chances.

A pair of fives saw both players waving goodbye to the trophy on fifteen. Dave's sixth par showed what could have been, but in the end Tony was enjoying a bit of D.I.Y. in the Minorcan sun as the Trophy went his way.
