With two points the difference, it was all down to the Colonel Hall championship. Played on a beautiful course, the conditions could not be more ideal. Unfortunately for Mike, his decline continued and with five blobs on his first half, he was well out of the running.
It was a game between the two Bruvs and pressure was on Geoff to match Alan, who was six strokes better ranked on handicap.. However, a par on the first took him into the lead. A good par from Alan in the first par five, whilst Geoff was in all sorts of trouble, put him into the lead, which he held to the end.
Three good shots took Geoff to within a few feet of the green on the next par five, but poor chipping and putting resulted in an eight. It was p[robably these two holes that settled the championship, as Alan ended up winner by just three strokes.
Geoff's 27 points was enough to hold on to a tour victory by one point from Alan. Dave was able join the group for one last drink and the presentation ceremony, before the boys limped home in Geoff's knackered Jag.
