After a night of jollity, in the Cuban cigar bar, it was an early start and a one hour drive through a blizzard. Not the most encouraging start, but as soon as the boys hit Arras, the sun came out.

One of the most prized trophies on the Baxter cabinet, the Doberman was first won at Arras in 1999. This year, it was Alan who won by a convincing 10 points, with the rest tied on 21.

Mike kept closest until he blobbed the eighth and ninth, then Dave took up the challeng, but he wilted badly over the closing holes.

Geoff nudged into second, but finished with a double blob. Apart from Alan, the scores were miserly, but there were enough flashes of good form to give hope for the afternoon.

Mike gives a big smile on the first tee, but smiles were hard to come by as the day progressed

Alan is contemplating a big one.
