Only five players this week, but the competition was one of the closest ever. Geoff was the early leader, but a poor hole three put him one behind Tony,Tom and Mike. He fell another shot behind by the fifth, whilst the others remained neck and neck. There was some head shaking and looking in the rule book at this point, as Tony declared that he had inadvertantly played a pink tee. It was agreed that he could proceed unpunished, although a stiff letter to his wife is now on the way.

The leaders all scored sixes on the mighty sixth and Geoff remained two shots behind. However, the next hole saw him catch up and four players were tied on 14 points (level handicap) with two to play.

Tony's par put him in the lead and one shot in front of handicap, but a disastrous ten on the last left him in third place alongside Geoff. Tom's six gave him three points and was looking for at least a shared victory, but it was Mike who stormed to the edge of the green with three shots. His chip bounced off the flag giving him a 'technical birdie' ( as Con calls them). His Nubbins sank the put for an official par and four points, taking the best score for two weeks in a row.
