The Maestro hit the ground running on Saturday, as he blitzed the course with three pars in the first five holes. Once again, the Monster reared its ugly head and left him looking at a miserable eight, languishing seven over par going into the seventh. A double bogie could have finished him, but he bounced back with pars on the last two and a fine 43.

Two pars and a birdie for Geoff, put him back in the hunt, whilst Mike recovered from a humiliating 12 on the first with a couple of pars to earn him a fair 15 points.

Hall of Pain nominee:Mike 12 strokes on the first.

A ten foot drive to the front of the tee, followed by a shot into the fence which landed on a slug. A ten yarder with a nine iron, followed by a slice onto the second tee. Two more shots and he faces a chip onto the green. This is topped, but finally returned to within ten feet of the hole. Four putts later and he is in for a 12!! Pars on the second and third put the smile back on his face.

 FAIR SAILS THE WIND FOR FRANCE!

The first stage of this year's club championships takes place on foreign soil. Three rounds in two days, with the fourth and final round played back home at Perivale.

Handicaps for France are as follows: Twice your nine-hole handicap plus 4; maximum 36.

Eg: Con = 2 x 8.3 + 4 = 20.6 plays off 21. Mike + 2 x 11.7 + 4 = 27.4 plays off 27

Tony 2 x 15.7 + 4 = 35.4 plays off 35

 

The handicap is the same for the Perivale leg, but without the 4 stroke addition, therefore Con plays off 17, Mike 23, Tony 31 etc.
