MONTHLY MEDAL 28TH AUGUST 1999
 TONY TAKES IT ON COUNTBACK
The most sensational monthly medal yet! Three way tie at the end of the nine holes has to go back a long way, as Tony's net eagle on the fifth breaks MM stranglehold of Dave and Steve.

"Jungle Jim" finds his way at last!

Hole1: Mike and Steve score net birdies to share the early lead.

Hole2: Steve nets another birdie, matched by Dave. Geoff's 2 converts to eagle, but Steve lead by one.

Hole3: Steve has a disaster. Four shots to get out of the bunker move him from hero to zero, whilst steady play by Mike and Geoff put them into the lead, one ahead of Tony and Dave.

Hole 4: Steve makes a comeback, by netting par. Mike screws it up, whilst Geoff holds his nerve to sneak a one shot lead.

Hole 5: A wild out of bounds shot by Mike puts him out of contention, but Steve nets a birdie to move back up the board. Tony gets a fantastic net eagle to gain a three shot swing against Geoff's bogie.

Hole 6: Some steady play on the monster, but a disaster from Tony and the picture changes once again. Dave and Geoff go one ahead of Tony, but look out for Steve who has fought back for a share of third place. Four players, one shot in it!

Hole 7: Dave nets a par, as Geoff falters. Tony and Steve notch up net birdies. A three way tie for the lead, with Geoff one shot back.

Hole 8: Everyone gets a net par. The situation stays the same and four players have a chance going into the last.

Hole 9: Joint leader Dave scores bogie. Great play by Tony and Steve to net their pars, but Geoff makes up the shot with a birdie! Its a three way tie!

Countback: Back one hole and Goff was one behind, so its down to Tony and Steve. Back another hole, it's still Tony and Steve. On the sixth: Tony and Steve! We have to go all the way back to the position after 5. Tony's net eagle puts him two ahead of Steve and wins him his first monthly.

 STABLEFORD SCORES

Steve's time in the bunker and a poor tee shot on the sixth, disguised an otherwise great round. Twenty points gives him second place in the Summer Stableford and 0.8 reduction in handicap. Eighteens for Geoff and Tony and seventeen for Dave, reflected the high level of competition in this the last Saturday of the Summer season.

HANDICAPS GOING INTO THE AUTUMN SEASON
A clear two shots ahead of the field, Con the Maestro has a tough standard to live up to.
Big improvements by Dave move him up to within one shot of Alan, who has a tough 10.
Moving down from second to fourth, is Mike who, like Geoff, now plays off 12.
Steve and Tony have shown some good form this season and have moved to 13 and 15 respectively. Tom still sits on 18, but with a fast developing swing motion, he could be the man to watch.
