With most of the Baxter boys off on their hol's and the Summer season drawing to a close. Mike and Geoff turned up in the vain hope of stealing a march on the field. However, Dave was in no mood to surrender his stranglehold on the big prizes. Shooting steady fives for most of the round and potting a cool par three on the eigth, he sauntered to an easy win and a huge drop in handicap, after notching a great twenty two pointer.

In the meantime Geoff and Mike struggled with 14 and 11 points respectively. A great first drive and a partial recovery from a wayward sand wedge, followed by a moster chip that was inches short of a birdie on the second made Mike an early threat. However, slow play by the pair in front and an interminable wait for a mystery fat man, put the temperamental Baxter boy off his stroke, as he hacked his way along the fairway into the bunker, where he spent some time digging his way free to a horrendous nine. From then on he could barely make a shot.

Geoff continued with his recent erratic form, only acquitting himself with a par on the fifth. Not one to disappoint the crowds, he paid his regular visit to the bunker on hole eight, but made a great recovery to earn his two points.

With three Saturdays to go. Dave is ten points clear of the field in the Summer Stableford and two hots clear in the low score. Distant drums will be heard pounding the news from Zimbabwe to Seattle, as the holidaying Baxter crew plan their return for the August monthly medal and the last round of Summer on August 28th.
