DAVE TAKES HIS THIRD MEDAL

The Baxter boys get in on the act at Dave's victory ceremony
BRILLIANT PAR ON THE SEVENTH AS MIKE SURRENDERS EARLY LEAD. STEVE STUMBLES AT THE LAST.

Mike's par on the first gave him an early lead. Alan moved alongside with a good par on the third. An unusually solid fourth put Mike ahead again with Alan and Dave one behind. Steve's big chance of a net Albatross went begging, as he three putted. Three pars on the fifth, but it was Mike one ahead of Dave with the rest a bit behind.

Once again, the sixth provided the drama of the day. Mike could only manage net bogie. Dave was one worse, but this time Steve potted a net eagle to go one behind Mike. Another lost ball and total collapse for Mike on the seventh, but a huge birdie for Dave, which saw the game come alive in a big way.Steve's net birdie put him alongside Dave. Mike was third, a massive three shots down.

With a six and a five from the leaders, things were decidedly interesting, going into the last. Steve was leading, with Dave a shot back and Mike another shot back. The Dyke boys sat alongside each other, a further point behind.

A disastrous nine by Steve gave Dave and Mike their chances. They both hit net birdies, whilst Geoff made a glorious net eagle.

Only one point split Dave, Geoff, Steve and Mike. However, it was Dave's point that gave him his third medal of the year. Certainly, the man of the Summer, as he leads both the Summer Stableford and the low score comp. With holidays coming up and only a few weeks to go the Baxter boys have to start taking their chances, if they are to make any kind of challenge.
