A stunning birdie on the tricky fourth set Dave up for something special, but he came down with a bang on the next hole scoring ten. Russ's three-pointer on the next made him the only player to hold handicap. Nobody managed to bogie the next and with Mike and Alan the only ones to bogie the fourth, Russ still held the lead. Pars from Mike and Dave on the sixth put a bit of pressure on Russ, who doubled the par three to let Mike creep alongside. A blob on the next let Mike through and, at the turn a par from Alan saw him just two off the lead in third. The matchplay was looking fairly tight, with Tony leading Gavin by one and Alan a further one up on Dave.
Two long hits saw Mike within a small wedge of the green on the par five, just missing birdie by a whisker. he was now well away and played solidly to keep the lead to the end, as Russ fought hard losing by just the one stroke. Dave and Gavin struggled on the back nine losing 5&4 and 4&3 respectively. In the low score contest, Dave made up two strokes to get within one of Mike who stayed two behind Con.
