- October 27 - ALAN GETS DOWN AS
BAXTER BOYS RETURN TO FORM
- Close games in matchplay as League nots up
- A full turn out on Saturday and Dave had he luxury of oncentrating
on a low score, whilst the others were locking horns in the tightest
matchplay yet. It took until half way before anyone was more
than a hole in front, as each player had at least one spell in
the lead. Mike and Geoff were all square up to four where Mike's
par was no match for Geoff's first birdie of the season. However,
birdie was followed by a six-over for the match to square again.
It was that knid of day for Geoff who played some solid stuff,
but reverted to the old faults, throwing away holes to Mike who
was inconsistent, but managing seven pars to take the match on
the17th.
- Con was the first to get a 2 hole lead, which he extended
by hole 10. With Steve hacking around for a score that was 28
strokes behind his recent record, Con should have breezed it
, but he didn't! In fact he relied on Steve's six-over on the
last in order to half the match!
- Tony had his chances against Alan and managed to keep an
edge as the game swung back and forth. A great par on 13 gave
him his last taste of the lead, as he slumped to a six-over on
14. Alan took another two to force Tony to fight for a draw.
A good score on 17 forced the match to the last, but an OB sunk
Tony to give Alan a deserved win along with the lowest score
of the day.

- October 20th ALAN WINS ELITE TROPHY
- Only a small turn out on Saturday - the rest we assume did
not fancy the weather! In the event there was no rain and even
some sunshine.Dave had knobbled Tony by taking him drinking on
Friday night so rather than Match Play, the Elite Trophy was
created as a scratch stroke play competition. Dave and Alan made
all the running with Geoff and Tony always a long way behind.
Dave was only one down on Alan after the front nine despite a
bad start on the first hole. Dave was one ahead by the 12th but
stumbled again on the 13th. Dave then made a steady comeback
including a birdie on the 16th. Amongst all this excitement at
the front, Geoff's highlight was a putt from off the back of
the green to the par the 17th. Dave started the final hole one
shot behind and made the green in four with Alan off the back
of the green. Alan holed out but that did not deter Dave from
doing the same to lose by only one shot.
