- DAVE MAKES IT TWO ON THE TROT
- The Bruvs tie as Con's nine on the par three sinks
him
- The Matchplay League really came alive on Saturday, as the
Bruv's went all the way to earn a half apiece, whilst Dave made
it two wins out of two in a tense battle with Pressuremeister
Con who dented his reputation with pressure induced errors on
the seventeenth to lose by 2 & 1.
- The monthly medal was tight until the mighty sixth. Five
players were tied after five, but Dave chipped in for par, which
not only put him in the low score frame but put him a two shots
shot clear of the Bruvs. At the halfay mark, Dave lead Mike by
two with Con and the Bruvs a further two behind. A superb birdie
by Mike on eleven helped his low score chances, but it was the
the unlucky thirteenth that produced the days biggest drama.
Mike's first went over, but hit a tree, he would not be able
to look for it until he had crossed the bridge. His provisional
went into a bush and it was not until he'd hit or dropped eight
times that he was in a position to find his first. Luckily he
recovered it and ony needed five more shots to get it into the
hole...thirteen goes to scre a six on a par three!!! dave and
Con couldn't hide their amusement, which must have unsettled
them, as they both failed to get across the ditch, Con scoring
a miserable nine. The boys must have set up a record score for
a three ball on a par three - 21 not counting Mike's seven provisionals.
The following group thrashed them with their sixteen!!!! However,
it was still Dave leading Mike by one with Alan two behind. Two
holes later and Dave was a commanding four strokes in the lead,
but Mike was now in a tie with the bruvs in second. geoff moved
up on the next and then made it a one shot deficit with a hole
to play. He was also leading Al by one hole in the matchplay.
Good finishing by Dve and Al put paid to Geoff's dream as he
limped home with a seven.
