Saturday 8th September BRENT VALLEY MATCHPLAY LEAGUE DAVE AND TONY OPEN THEIR ACCOUNTS Mike's agony continues as Dave and Tony shine With the Matchplay League getting under way on Saturday, Alan quietly got on with taking apart the first-nine record on Friday. Three pars in a row turned a good nine into greatness, A cool 39 has set the pace for the new season. A disastrous seven on a par three and a mediocre 6-6 finish produced a bland 47 on the way back. In the Matchplay, Dave demolished a wildly off-form Mike 5 & 4, whilst Tony hammered Geoff 4&3. Both players took a handicap cut and Mike started to fall back towards the pack. Dave played solid golf to record his best score, whilst Geoff looked promising holding a lead up seven where Tony turned on the screw with birdie-par. A par by Geoff on ten made it one down with eight to play, but that was as close as it got, as Tony hit him hard, leaving him reeling and out of it by 15.
