Geoff Takes The Colonel’s Cup
Geoff Takes The Colonel’s Cup
Saturday, 10 December 2011
Colonel Sherman Potter would have been proud of the classic memorial cup on Saturday, as Geoff and Russ battled it out in their last match of the year. An opening par for Geoff, followed by two more on three and six, whilst Russ had a 20 footer and a chip-in to lead after six. From there, it was nip-and-tuck until Geoff got a two hole advantage with three to go. A five on seventeen made it three and all over for Russ.
Two over net after seventeen was a good score for Geoff, as the icy conditions made it difficult to control the ball. However, an eight on the last enabled Con to catch up and lose the cup on count-back. Con cemented his lead in the Eclectic with a nice birdie on eight and a comfortable win against Dave. Mike overtook Dave in the eclectic, with much needed pars on eight and twelve. Dave then improved by getting bogie and four and parring the easiest hole. Just one points separates three players for second in the table. Geoff went one ahead of Mike to go second in the Stableford.
